{In This Moment} – A Friday ritual.
A single photo – no words – capturing a moment from the week.
A simple, special, extraordinary moment.
A moment to pause, savor and remember.

{In This Moment} – A Friday ritual. A single photo – no words – capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment to pause, savor and remember. Inspired by SouleMama Yesterday the KWS community gathered in celebration of May Day, a traditional festival that honors springtime as a season of renewal and growth.
Several of our classes began the day by twisting willow and ivy into May crowns, which were then woven through with colorful flowers. The children donned their crowns and joined parents outside on the front lawn where the festivities took place.
All musical accompaniment for the day was provided by Lower and Middle School students, and our May Day Festival began with a procession by the 1st grade, who scattered flower petals in a path around the maypole. At the close of the procession, our 8th grade students were the first to share a maypole dance.
Each class from 1st through 8th grade learned and performed a dance around the maypole, and as has become our annual tradition, the 12th grade students joined with their 1st grade buddies for a special maypole dance.
Our May Day festivities will continue this Saturday from 11am-2pm as we gather for our annual May Faire. This fabled event is open to all, and will feature food, drink, games, activities, and traditional Maypole dancing. As always, we’ll conclude the day’s events with the much beloved wooden boat race in French Creek! The weather is predicted to be perfect, and the day is sure to be filled with fun, festivity and friendship. We hope you’ll come out and join us!
